I guess I asked for this one, didn't I? I suggested to Leah that she tag Jodi again when she got one, so here's payback. This tag is called "SEVEN FUN FACTS ABOUT ME," though I don't know if you'll think these facts are fun or not. Here goes:
1. When I was five, I was run over by a tractor. My uncle was driving, I was wiggling around & fell. The back tire ran over me & because I was so tiny, I went in between the lugs of the new tires. Yes people, I used to be tiny. I remember laying on my uncle's couch, then the next was looking up at the dr. in the hospital. I've written about this in my blog before, but anyway, the dr. stitched up my eyebrow (that's why one is lower than the other) & wouldn't charge my parents anything because when my Dad was in high school, he had saved the Dr.'s son's life when he was drowning in a canal. Mom tells me I couldn't walk for 6 months. I don't remember that. Because of that, I've had trouble with my back & neck all my life. About 13 years ago, I had bone taken out of my hip & fused into discs in my neck, then a titanium plate screwed in with 6 screws--apparently to keep my head from falling off--LOL! I don't have good range of motion but I think when I tilt my head, my brains are falling out. That's why I can't remember things & I'M STICKING TO THAT STORY!!
2. I loved to be on my uncle's farm during the summer, swam in the canal with my 2nd cousin & beavers (LOL!), & begged my uncle to let me drive the tractor when they hauled hay. Yes, the earlier mishap with the tractor apparently didn't bother me. Even though I'm OCD, I loved then & now to go to the farm & let the newborn calf's suck my thumb (which ends up they pretty much suck your hand, etc.)--didn't bother me to get slimy, I just washed it off. Other goo drives me crazy. I guess it was their big, brown eyes with eyelashes I would kill to have.
3. As you can tell, from early on I loved to drive. So at around age 9, I learned how to drive a motorcycle--not a big one, but eventually got to a bigger one. From the start, Dad wouldn't cut me any slack. If I fell over, I picked me & the bike up. I learned how to climb hills, drive through thick sand going pretty fast, etc. I got my first driving ticket at the age of 13 for driving without a license, no helmet, no registration, passenger with an underage driver, you name it, it was ticketed. Long story, posted before, but my parents took care of the ticket.
4. I also learned to drive our "Super Jeep" at an early age. My parents have a picture of me jumping the jeep several feet off the ground. We went 4-wheeling all the time & my Mom & sister would get out at dangerous points while Dad & I had a ball! Danger & speed apparently equal fun in my book. Now, I love go carts--the faster the better!
5. I always wanted to be an Archaeologist. I've always been fascinated about the "old" history & love to watch the Discovery Channel, History Channel, etc. If my life were different, I would go back 30 or so years ago & study that in college. BUT, if I had done that, would I still have the 2 great kids that I have (Jodi & Tyler)? What about the 2 sweet grandkids. Maybe it worked out for the best.
6. I LOVE being a Mom & Grandma. I don't think I was a very good Mom to my kids-one reason was because I worked so much. I worked for 22 years at "the phone company" & much of that was mandatory overtime--about 14 hr. days, 6 days a week. Jodi was expected to do a lot. So, thank goodness they treat me so good anyways & I'm so lucky they live so close to me! I'm on permanent disability now so I get to spend lots more time with my grandkids, so hopefully I can be a better Grandma than I was a Mom.
7. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE to travel & if there's a "sugar daddy" out there that would like to take me on trips, here I am!
So, now there you have it. Sordid details you never wanted to know about me. I have already tagged pretty much anyone & everyone that I can think of, but here's a few possibly creative tags: Tyler because even though Shannon has been tagged, he IS the other half of their blog (he's going to KILL me--oh well...), Mom because she's the "better half" of the blog (Dad's going to KILL me too!--oh well...), Madison AND Olivia because they are the sweetest grandkids a Grandma could have & I want to know about them through their eyes & not Jodi's. I don't have 7, but those are the ones I would like to read about for now.

GREAT! I'VE BEEN TAGGED TOO!
Well, thanx to Jodi, I've been tagged. That means I've got to find some pictures that I can share with you, from Google, about myself. Here goes:

Machu Picchu & Pompeii have been obsessions for a long time.
My favorite thing: Where was this guy when I was working?
My favorite place:

My favorite foods: (NUMMY...)
My favorite color:

My current/past pet name:

Nickname: (Can you read the name?)
College major:
My first job: (other than babysitting--everybody does that)
(I started working both places about the same time)
My goal for next year: (???)
Now, I get to tag someone. YAY!! Wonder who I will pick...
Shannon because she hasn't posted anything to her blog for a really, really L O N G time
Sean A'lee because she's always asking Jodi what to blog about (ha, ha--got ya!)
Dad because I'm VERY interested in what he would say

O'DELL SEALING
In October, I was so lucky to be able to travel to Ukraine with my friend Rose O'Dell to finalize the adoption of their son, Alex. (I'll go into detail later...) Anyway, tonight they were able to take him to the temple & seal him to their family for time & all eternity. It was a very special thing for me to be allowed to see that happen!

NAME CHANGE
I really didn't like the name on my blog header but have NO creativity so I couldn't figure out what to change it to. After going through several "witty" header ideas, Jodi suggested I put down what Madison & Olivia constantly are telling me. I'm "Goofy Grandma." So, there's the name change...I can't decide if I should be flattered that they think I'm goofy (fun???) or should I pack my bags to head to the mental hospital for being "nuts"?

MADDIE VS CAR
OUCH!! She sure wasn't happy. Didn't see that one coming. Poor thing...Jodi picked her up & hugged her tight. Then, when we got across the parking lot, Jodi picked her a flower to help make "it" feel better. The only problem was when she picked it, all the "flower" came off. Maddie laughed, Jodi picked another flower, and the trauma was over. Except, when I told her that maybe the "owie" would turn purple & then she'd match her bedroom. She just glared at me. I guess that was the wrong thing to say???Posted by Cheryl at 6:16 PM 5 comments by very nice people

SLEEPOVERS WITH GRANDMA
on? The funny thing is, she is terrified of my 2 VERY fat cats, just because one of them hisses at her & then run-waddles away. How scarey can a 20 lb. cat that waddles be? Does she look THAT scarey?Posted by Cheryl at 2:03 PM 5 comments by very nice people
DELUSIONS!
My Dad sent this e-mail to me today. Thought I'd pass it on...Delusions are often functional. A mother's opinions about her children's beauty, intelligence, goodness, et cetera ad nauseam, keep her from drowning them at birth. (Hmmm...maybe Jodi ought to read this--check out her blog "Goff Family" below & you'll understand why.)

THE BABY & PSYCHO KITTY
For the last couple (or was it few?? I'm tired...) of months, I've been babysitting a couple of days a week for my friend Vita. She is the twin sister of my friend Rose who took me with her to Ukraine in October--another story I'll tell later. Anyway, Vita's baby Brian is 9 months old & he's a
doll! He's had a VERY difficult time deciding he should sleep in his crib instead of sleeping with Mom & Dad. Other than the sleeping problem, he's a GREAT baby to watch! Well, I'm soooo excited to report that today he slept 1 1/4 hrs. in his crib this morning & only cried for 10 min. before falling asleep. (Much better than when he would cry really hard for 45 min. before it just broke my heart & he ended up in the swing where he would fall asleep immediately.) Then, this afternoon, he fell asleep eating lunch--LOL! (By the way babies DO NOT LIKE babyfood Mac & Cheese! I'm telling ya right now, DO NOT give it to them!) I put him in his crib, he cried for less than 5 min. & slept for 3 HOURS!! (Of course, I found out later he had his Hib vaccination on Tues. so that might be contributing to the sleeping.--hey whatever, we'll take it!) Anyway, the sleeping in the crib part is AWESOME because if you only knew...when I first started babysitting him, he slept at the most for 1/2 hr. He'd fall asleep drinking his bottle or on my shoulder, but the minute I'd put him in his crib, he would jerk awake & that's all she wrote buster! Vita was beside herself & so frustrated.
And then...because Vita wasn't frustrated enough...she got her husband (Brian Sr.) a baby kitten for his birthday. (They already have an adult cat named Rosie.) Named this one Ann for some reason, but I call her "Psycho Kitty."
She came to their home a little young--mother nowhere to be found. So, in addition to Vita struggling with a new baby, she had to hand feed the kitten with a dropper no less! LOL! Don't get me wrong, this kitten is so cute! Not the brightest in the bunch, but cute & loveable. She goes up to Brian & lets him swing her by the tail, grab her, etc. I say if she loses the tail, her fault, huh? It was funny today, she had 3 time-outs! A kitten getting time-outs! She kept getting right up to the baby & as kittens do...scratch, nip, etc. Her teeth are so sharp you could sew with them babies! She can't be declawed yet because she's still too young. She grabbed onto Brian's arm with all 4 legs (arms & legs? what do you call them?) & he just waved his arm up & down. "Psycho" just held on! Funniest thing I've seen in quite a while, except that poor Brian was getting scratched. Time out.
Then, after Brian slept for 3 hours, he had a MASSIVE blowout if you know what I mean, so I changed his clothes & then when we were leaving the room, I turned around & who is in Brian's crib looking all innocent? "Psycho Kitty"!
This is "Psycho Kitty" FINALLY worn out after running aimlessly, jumping, tormenting their other cat (boy does that one tell the baby cat off!), running more, etc. "Psycho" likes Cookie Monster & Brian likes Elmo.

LDS WOMEN & HYMNS
A friend sent me this one. I think it's a good one!: "As Latter-day Saint women, we are practically obsessed with anxiously engaging ourselves in good causes. Maybe it's subliminal: Glancing through the hymnal last Sunday I noted that as sisters in Zion, we who are called to serve are all enlisted to go marching, marching forward because the world has need of willing men to all press on scattering sunshine. We wonder if we have done any good in the world today because we have been given much and want to do what is right, keep the commandments, press forward with the Saints, choose the right, and put our shoulders to the wheel going where He wants us to go. However, as the morning breaks high on the mountain top, truth reflects upon our senses, and while we still believe that sweet is the work, we also realize that we have work enough to do ere the sun goes down. And thus we ask: Thee ere we part, where can we turn for peace?"

MOTHER'S DAY ROSES

I'M OBSESSED
I have always been the first to admit that I'm slightly (ok, not slightly--overwhelmingly) obsessive. (I truly have OCD.) Anyway, needless to say I get something in my mind & can't shake it off till I do something about it, even if it's dumb. (83.5% of the time it's dumb.) Anyway, my most recent obsession is how much money do the cast members on "Amazing Race" or "Survivor" get paid??? Does that question bug anyone else? I've tried before to get the answer, but drove myself crazier because I couldn't find the answer ANYWHERE!! I have a DVR (TiVo equivalent) so it even bugs me so much that I will pause in the middle of one of those shows to check the internet again, trying to rephrase my question on any number of the search engines to find the "ultimate answer" (at least for this current obsession). Well...I HAVE SUCCEEDED in getting a much better answer than I have ever done before & thought just maybe someone else would like to know too. For those of you who care, here it is, according to recent info--CBS won't confirm. For SURVIVOR (the one I'm obsessed about right now because it just ended): Winner gets $1,000,000 (we all knew that), 2nd gets $100,000 (we all knew that too), 3rd $85,000, 4th $70,000, 5th $55,000, 6th $45,000, 7th $35,000, 8th $27,500, 9th $20,000, 10th $15,000, 11th $10,000, 12th $7,500, 13th $5,500 & then they decrease by $1,000 on down to 16th place. Don't know what they do beyond that. I was "amazed" to know that 2nd place in AMAZING RACE only gets $25,000 when the winners get $1,000,000! That's a BIG difference! Anyway, hope that clears it up for those of you who were losing sleep!

MADISON'S TUTU
Posted by Cheryl at 6:15 PM 4 comments by very nice people
WHERE DO I BEGIN?
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, May 9, 1957. Moved to California when I was 3. Lived in La Habra most of that time & went to Disneyland so many times each year I can't even count. At that time, you didn't have to pay the main park entrance fee, you just bought the book of tickets & used mostly the "E" tickets--the other ones were for things that weren't as much fun. Every time family or friends would come to visit, off we would go to Disneyland. Of course, I never got tired of it. I remember Dad would call Mom from work & tell her to get a babysitter & meet him at the "Blue Bayou" in Disneyland for dinner. Like I said, no entrance fee. Wouldn't that be nice now?
Anyway, when I was little, we lived on Verona Street & I had a really pretty white Persian cat. When I went to Kindergarten one day, I saw the cat hanging from a tree right in front of the school & I ran all the way home crying. I also had a little weenie dog named "Poochie." I think he bit someone because we had to give him away to a family that lived next door to my Grandma Hazel in Granger, Utah, (city name changed to West Valley City).
just to let you know I was a cute kid (was there any question?). "She told me a story about how when you were little, she was tending you.....you were outside playing and you kept ringing the doorbell, so she told you not to ring the doorbell anymore. You said OK..Then in a few minutes the doorbell rang again and you yelled through the door "It's just I, me ringed it again"...CUTE!! You were such a cute little girl..."
LOL!--check 'em out! Don't blame her for not liking this picture--what was I thinking??) Oh, I also remember playing with Silly Putty & got it on my white bedspread & Mom (who's the most patient person in the world) got real mad, so I couldn't have Silly Putty for a L O N G time! When I was 5, I was run over by my uncle's tractor on his farm in northeastern Utah (Duchesne). I was so tiny & the back tires were new, so I went in between the lugs (the grooves of the tires). I remember laying in the hospital & the dr. looking down at me. I got stitches in my eyebrow (that's why one eyebrow is lower than the other one). I don't remember this, but my mom says I couldn't walk for 6 months. My parents tell me that the dr. didn't charge them anything for my treatment because when my Dad was a teenager, he had saved the dr.'s son from drowning in a canal. I've had problems with my neck & back ever since. I also get migraines. (I'll tell ya about my neck stuff later...)
Anyway, I begged my parents for a sister, so when I was 7 1/2 they adopted Trudy
(did I forget to tell you I was VERY spoiled?), so we had to move to a bigger house up in La Habra Heights, overlooking a private golf course. Our old neighbor Primo poured lots of concrete for us there. On our property was a really nice little stream & we had some big eucalyptus trees that my Dad put a swing on by the stream. We had a really pretty curly haired black laborador retriever named Stasha. She loved to play in the stream when we were swinging. It just happened that it was also close to where people would tee off. Well, Stasha, being a retriever, would chase the balls which would really tick off the golfers. They complained, the golf course complained to us but we couldn't do anything about her, so one time when we were on vacation, we are POSITIVE they came & took her away. Before that, she had a litter of puppies about the same time our cat had kittens. One of the kittens would nurse off Stasha. Pretty funny! I ran down the stairs one time with the stapler & stapled my thumb--ummm...it hurt!We didn't have many neighbors since we lived in the hills, but our next door neighbors had 2 boys & I played with Kevin Schrock. We played spies (pretending we were the spies from this one show on TV). Lots of fun running up & down the huge hill in our backyard! I also babysat a little girl named Kelly & when I was babysitting, we would watch Dark Shadows. She had nightmares so her parents asked my parents to tell me to quit watching it. She liked it too, so we kept watching it but pretended we didn't. She promised she wouldn't have anymore nightmares. I'm sure she didn't because she PROMISED!
When I was 12, my Dad got a job with Mountain Bell in Utah, but there was a condition--he had to lose weight--that's before EEO. He currently was working for different aerospace companies as an electrical engineer one in a TOP SECRET government program, heading the department. I remember him going to the airport a number of times with a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist--super-spy stuff, huh? Well, the aerospace program finances were getting cut by the government & Dad had to keep laying off his guys who were his friends, & they saw the "writing on the wall," so my parents decided it was time to move back to Utah to be closer to family. While Dad was waiting for his job to come through, they sold our really big house overlooking the private country club, on prime land for a whopping $45,000! A couple of years later, we heard the people who bought it sold it for over $250,000. This was even before the overpricing of houses in California! Anyway, we moved to a rental house for a year. It had a pool that dad swam 50 laps in the morning & 50 in the evening to help him lose weight. Almost the only thing he ate for a year was beef jerky. He really stuck to his diet & lost lots of weight. I remember how proud of him I was & how I still wish I could be so committed to something.
WOW!! I just read everything up to here & it's REALLY, REALLY LONG!! (And I just touched on the surface...More later--remember, if you don't care, don't read! LOL!)

DIETING??
Health Benefits Of Being Overweight
A new report suggests that being overweight is not as harmful
as is commonly believed, and actually confers some surprising
benefits.
Being five to ten pounds overweight could protect people
from ailments ranging from tuberculosis to Alzheimer's
disease, research indicates. Those carrying 15 to 25 extra
pounds are better able to recover from adverse conditions
such as emphysema, pneumonia, and various injuries and
infections, states the report.
Thirty to forty pounds of flab could help fend off breast,
kidney, pancreatic, prostate, and colon cancer. And an
extra fifty pounds on the scale may improve eyesight,
reverse baldness, cure the common cold, and reduce
global warming.
In general, the report concludes, overweight people are
happier, more successful in business, smarter, and friendlier.
The study was funded by a research grant from McDonald's,
Burger King, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, Domino's Pizza,
Starbucks, Haagen Dazs, Sara Lee, and Krispy Kreme.
(I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON I DON'T DIET!!)

MUSIC
I REALLY enjoy listening to all kinds of music, so I hope you like some of the stuff that I put on here. At one time in my life, I was really into Country, but have ALWAYS liked Rock. I also enjoy listening to Blues type of music by Eric Clapton (he plays awesome guitar) & who can compare with the Eagles (my FAVORITE group)? Any Eagles song is a hit with me. I have more Eagles on my iPod than anything else. Lately, when I need to calm down, I like Josh Groban. (I love how he sings "Ave Maria," which when I die, I hope my kids can find someone who sings it really well & have them sing it at my funeral. Of course it will probably be attened by about only 8 people so it shouldn't matter--LOL!) When I'm manic, then I'm more into harder rock. Just depends, doesn't it? I think though, one of the most beautiful voices came from Patsy Cline. How can a woman EVER compete with that? Anyway, if you don't like the music, please press your mute button.
